Summertime fun: Free Philly Play summer camp starts on Monday, July 7.
Children ages 8–12 are invited to sign up for the free Philly Play summer camp, which starts on Monday, July 7. The Philly Play initiative is led by City Councilman Bobby Henon.
KO Sporting Goods, of South Philadelphia, donated more than $40,000 of sports equipment to the 10 Philly Play recreation centers.
“I’m tremendously grateful to KO Sports and all our partners for their support of Philly Play,” Henon said. “This equipment will go right to the kids participating in the programming.”
In the Northeast, the equipment was provided to Vogt Recreation Center, 6700 Cottage St. in Tacony, and Pelbano Recreation Center, 8101 Bustleton Ave. in Rhawnhurst. Each recreation center will keep the equipment once the Philly Play summer programming concludes on Aug. 13. Summer campers and children from across Philadelphia will be invited to participate in a citywide Philly Play Challenge Event on Aug. 13 at Vogt Recreation Center.
