The 7000 and 7100 blocks of Ditman Street are being repaved this summer.
However, the Philadelphia Water Department did some work on those blocks last year, according to Eric Horvath, an aide to City Councilman Bobby Henon (D-6th dist.)
“The blocks were repaved with a system called micropaving, a thin layer of temporary asphalt,” Horvath wrote in a July 2 email to the Northeast Times. He said the micropaving is asphalt that is hard to distinguish from “traditional” pavement, but it has a shorter life.
June Cantor, a Streets Department spokeswoman, said the water department paving involved temporary restoration of its utility trench on those blocks. The remainder of the street width still needed to be milled and repaved.
“Since the Streets Department has other paving work scheduled in this immediate neighborhood this summer, Ditman Street from Wellington Street to Tyson Avenue was included in this year’s paving plan,” Cantor wrote in a July 3 email to the newspaper. ••
