Detectives are trying to identify a gunman who mugged a woman SEPTA patron near a bus stop in Castor Gardens on June 26.

The victim, a 58-year-old woman, was walking toward a bus stop at Bustleton and Magee avenues at about 12:08 p.m. when she cut through a driveway behind the 6600 block of Bustleton and passed a man who was talking on a cell phone, according to police. The woman continued walking and turned to notice that the man had followed her. He placed a handgun to her head and demanded her purse, police said.

The woman surrendered her purse and stated that it was empty, prompting the robber to toss the purse to the ground and flee eastbound on Unruh Avenue, police said.

The mugger was described as black, 20 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall and 165 pounds with a stocky build. He was clean shaven and wore a yellow and blue striped shirt, black shorts and black shoes.
