An unknown gunman slipped into a Bustleton Wawa and quietly robbed the business last Wednesday afternoon, making off with two cartons of cigarettes, Philadelphia police say.
The bandit made no apparent attempt to conceal his face or disguise himself, as evidenced by surveillance video recovered from the convenience store at 8900 Krewstown Road. The heist occurred at about 3:09 p.m. when the robber walked up to the store from Bloomfield Avenue, entered, approached a clerk and lifted his shirt to reveal an object in his waistband. It was a gun, police said.
The employee surrendered two cartons of cigarettes to the robber, who exited the store and ran westbound on Bloomfield, away from Krewstown. He was described as white, about 25 years old, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall with a medium build, brown hair with red highlights and a full mustache and beard. He wore a dark baseball cap with “FDNY” on the front, a dark long-sleeve shirt with “Hollister 1922” on the front, white cargo shorts, black socks and sneakers.
