Sweet treats: Rita’s Italian Ice recently made its ninth annual check presentation to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation toward the fight against childhood cancer. Jeff Moody, CEO of Rita’s Italian Ice, presented Liz and Jay Scott — Alex’s parents — with a $300,000 check toward Rita’s Fund of Hope, an endowment that ensures the travel needs of families whose children are battling cancer are met. Families and childhood cancer survivors attended the event, took a tour of Rita’s Cool University and learned how to make Rita’s Italian Ice.
