Philadelphia’s medical examiner and police homicide detectives are investigating the death of a Northeast woman whose body was found on Tuesday morning along Holme Avenue near the Holme-Crispin Cemetery.
Authorities have not ruled the case a murder and have not determined the cause of death.
A passer-by found the body at 6:12 a.m., according to a police spokeswoman. Media reports that the woman was a strangled jogger were unconfirmed as of Tuesday afternoon, the spokeswoman said.
The victim was a 46-year-old resident of the neighborhood near the cemetery on Holme Avenue near Convent Lane. The burial ground abuts the Crispin Gardens ballfields and Pennypack Park. It is the final resting place of William Penn’s surveyor general, Thomas Holme, and his extended family. ••
