Homicide detectives are trying to identify a dead man and the killers who ran him down in a car, then shot him on a Northwood street on Saturday night.
It all happened at about 8:45 p.m. on the 4700 block of Ramona Ave. A witness to the horror told police that he saw a black man running away from a moving car with multiple occupants. The dark vehicle struck the pedestrian, the witness said, before one of the occupants shot the victim multiple times in the head. The car fled the scene, leaving the fatally wounded victim in the street. Paramedics pronounced him dead shortly before 9 p.m.
A short time later, police received a report of a car fire at H and Annsbury streets in nearby Juniata Park. Police believe the car was the one used in the slaying.
Authorities have released no information about the victim, other than he was black. No descriptions were available of the suspects. Police did not say how many occupants were in the car, which was described as dark in color with tinted windows. It may have been a Honda. Call 215–686-TIPS or text to PPDTIP to report information. ••
