Keith Perkins (left) and Joseph Donaldson
Police who have been looking for a man who follows elderly people home from local banks and robs them before they can get safely inside have a warrant for his arrest and were looking for him Tuesday.
Police have known what he looks like; they’ve got plenty of photos and tape of him. Yesterday, they put a name to the face, and began looking for Ronald Singleton, 52, of the 5100 block of Hawthorne Street in Frankford. They believe he is responsible for five Northeast robberies of elderly people and several more in other parts of the city.
Meanwhile, another man surrendered to police in connection with the July robbery of an elderly man on Stanwood Street, and cops are looking for his accomplice. This week, 43-year-old Keith Perkins of the 1400 block of North 22nd Street, was arrested in connection to the street robbery of an 83-year-old-man. Cops are looking for his alleged accomplice, Joseph Donaldson, 28, of the 100 block of North Paxson Street. Police have warrants for him and Singleton, but, as of midafternoon Tuesday, both men remained at large.
Police said Singleton, a sometimes violent robber, has been operating from late April to mid-August. His Aug. 13 victims were in their 80s. One earlier victim was 96. The sums involved were from $100 to $1,000.
A description of Donaldson, other than he is a 28-year-old black man, was not available as the Northeast Times went to press Tuesday.
Anyone who sees Singleton or Donaldson should call 911, 215–686-TIPS (8477) or text a tip to PPD TIP or 773847. Tipsters can also call the Northeast Detective Division 215–686–3153/3154 or East Detective Division 215–686–3243/3244. ••
