A couple of masked men robbed an Upper Holmesburg beer store on Saturday night one week after a similar heist occurred two miles away.
The most recent holdup occurred just before 11 p.m. at Frostee’s Cold Case Beer, 8425 Frankford Ave., when an unknown man wearing a black full-face mask entered the business, pointed a gun through an opening in the sales office window and demanded money from a cashier. The second robber, who also wore a black full-face mask, entered the sales office and collected money that the cashier had taken from the register, police said.
The gunman then demanded that the clerk open the lottery drawer containing additional cash, which the accomplice also collected. Finally, the gunman demanded that the cashier surrender cartons of cigarettes. The robbers fled the store with $2,800 in stolen cash and 18 cartons of cigarettes, police said. No injuries were reported.
Although both bandits wore masks and gloves, the victim saw exposed skin and described them both as white. One robber is 5 feet 9 inches tall with a stocky build, while the other is 6 feet 3 inches tall. Police released no further descriptions.
Another robbery occurred at the Beer Box, 3350 Grant Ave., on Aug. 16 at about 8:30 p.m. A single robber obtained an undisclosed amount of cash at gunpoint and fled eastbound on Grant in a car, possibly a white Ford Focus. The robber was described as white, 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 7 inches tall with a dark blue hoodie, gray bandana over his face, sunglasses and gloves.
