The Northeast Philadelphia Hall of Fame invites high school students to enter an essay contest for the chance to win an iPad and a $2,000 scholarship to Holy Family University.
Students should submit a 500- to 750-word essay on the theme Uncovering Northeast Philly: What Makes Northeast Philadelphia Special?
Honorable mention prizes include gift certificates to local businesses. The teacher with the most students entering the contest will receive a gift certificate to the Dining Car.
The winning entry will be published in the Times and in the program for the Hall of Fame induction ceremony, Oct. 19 at Holy Family. The winner will be recognized at the ceremony.
This year’s inductees will be Stephen Decatur, Virginia Knauer, Pat Worthington Stopper, Chris Matthews and the Jewish Community Center Klein Branch.
Previous winners of the essay contest have been St. Hubert’s Casey Berner and Father Judge’s Alexander Citerone. The deadline to enter is Sept. 26. Entries can be emailed to [email protected] ••
