WWII vets to star in one-act play

A one-act play chronicling a day in the lives of two aging World War II veterans will be presented at the Ashburner Inn, 8400 Torresdale Ave., on Friday, Sept. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Admission is free of charge.

Written by Martin Lentz and directed by Kim Lentz, D-Day, Again takes place during a 24-hour period in a resident room of an assisted living facility outside Baltimore, Md. Characters include resident veterans Pop Taylor (Fred Jackes) and Dooley (Don Gimpel), along with Pop’s son Junior (David Campbell) and their social worker (Clare Golden Drake).

The play was received with rave reviews on April 9 at Mermaid Playwrights Theater in Chestnut Hill and on June 5 in Bridesburg for a special audience of 82nd Airborne veterans. The performance at the Ashburner is being sponsored by the Philadelphia Federal Credit Union. Donations will be accepted and will support the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Foundation. ••
