Crook robs cell phone store in Crescentville

An armed robber stole cash and two cell phones from a Metro PCS store in Crescentville on Sept. 13.

The crime occurred at about 5:24 p.m. at 721 Adams Ave. A 20-year-old saleswoman was helping a patron at the front counter when a man entered the store, approached the employee and asked her questions about activating his cell phone, police said. The man soon left the store, only to return with a handgun. He pointed the weapon at the employee and the customer, who was a 20-year-old man, and demanded money.

The robber took an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and grabbed two phones, one from the counter and another from the customer, before fleeing east on Adams toward Roosevelt Boulevard. No injuries were reported. The robber was described as black, 30 years old, with a gray hooded Old Navy sweatshirt, pink sunglasses and black jeans.
