A Wissinoming man last week was sentenced to 32 months in prison for his role in a tax fraud conspiracy, the U.S. Attorney’s office in Philadelphia announced.
Steven Young, 32, of the 2000 block of Sanger Street, pleaded guilty in May to one count of conspiracy and six counts of assisting the preparations of fraudulent federal income tax returns, the U.S. Attorney stated in a Sept. 17 news release.
He supplied personal identification information to his co-conspirator that was used in filing the false returns. Young had been charged with Tanita Chapman, who had pleaded to 23 counts of of preparing and filing false federal income tax returns. She is awaiting sentencing. Their scheme involved unlawfully claiming First Time Home Buyer’s credits for ineligible people. The scheme netted more than $42,000, which Sanger must return. ••
