A red ladder fell off a vehicle on Interstate 95 late Sunday afternoon, triggering an accident that injured a Philadelphia police officer.
According to police, the driver of a Ford told them he stopped suddenly to avoid a large red extension ladder that had fallen off a truck in I-95’s northbound lanes at the Academy Road exit at about 5:55 p.m. Sunday. When that motorist stopped, a cop on a motorbike couldn’t avoid colliding with the Ford and was thrown off the bike. The officer, whom police did not identify, was taken to Aria Health’s Torresdale campus, treated for injuries to his jaw, hip, left shoulder and face, and released later Sunday.
The Ford’s driver and passenger were not injured.
The truck that lost the ladder was gone when police arrived. Anyone with information should call the Accident Investigation Division at 215–685–3180. ••
