Discuss temporary library closing at meeting
There will be a community meeting on Monday, Nov. 3, to discuss issues related to the temporary closing of Holmesburg Library from 6 to 8 p.m. at the branch, at 7810 Frankford Ave.
The library closed earlier this month when a broken pipe underground caused major plumbing issues. ••
Chamber to honor hospital, two businesses
The Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce will honor Nazareth Hospital, Rodney C. Sandmeyer of Sandmeyer Steel Co. and Dietz & Watson at its 92nd Annual Accolades Celebration on Friday, Nov. 7, at Brookside Manor at Somerton Springs, 50 Bustleton Pike in Feasterville.

Protestant Home to host breakfast
The Philadelphia Protestant Home, 6500 Tabor Ave., will host a pancake and sausage breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1.

Church to host Halloween event
All Saints Episcopal Church in Torresdale invites families with young children to visit the church’s Haunted Cemetery on Oct. 31, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Kids will be able to trick or treat at numerous stations on the All Saints grounds, including the historic cemetery.
The Halloween celebration is sponsored by the All Saints Burial Ground History Committee and is free to attend. The church is at 9601 Frankford Ave. ••
Philadelphia Police Boat Team needs help with replacing lost canoe
The Philadelphia Police Boat Team, which lost an outrigger canoe due to a catastrophic crash in Atlantic City in 2013. asks for the public’s support in funding a new boat. Folks can help in a festive way by attending the Designer Bag Bingo fundraiser on Sunday, Nov. 16, at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5, 11630 Caroline Road, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Tickets cost $35 and will not be sold at the door. Reservations are required. The price includes 15 bingo games, card markers, food and beverages. There will also be door prizes, raffles, a 50/50, a special auction and more.

Food donations sought
Councilwoman Maria Quinones Sanchez (D-7th dist.) is asking city residents to donate canned goods, rice, flour and seasonings as well as turkey, sweet potatoes, coffee, spaghetti and meatballs, pies, sugar, aluminum foil and turkey pans to Operation Thanksgiving.
All donated items go to needy families, and they can be dropped off at the councilwoman’s office in Room 592, City Hall or at Centro Musical, 464 W. Lehigh Ave.
