Police looking for Wissinoming grocery store robber

It would’ve been pretty tough to miss the guy who wore a white sweatshirt with a gaudy black design into a Wissinoming grocery store on Oct. 25. Police now hope that someone recognizes him or his distinctive hoodie from surveillance video because the guy ended up robbing the business at gunpoint.

The crime occurred at about 3:05 p.m. at Rising Sun Grocery, 4201 Levick St., police said. The robber wore no mask to cover his face and acted like a legitimate patron. He brought one item to the front of the store and asked the clerk, a 26-year-old woman, for the price.

The robber then returned the item to a shelf and brought another to the counter. That’s when he pulled a handgun on the cashier and demanded money. With cash in hand, he fled and was last seen running westbound through a driveway between the 4100 blocks of Levick and Elbridge streets.

He was described as black, in his early 20s, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with a medium build, mustache, goatee, black knit hat, white hoodie with black designs on the front and back, black cargo-style sweatpants and black sneakers.
