Hazardous waste to be collected Nov. 8

The Streets Department will hold its last Household Hazardous Drop-off event of the 2014 season on Saturday, Nov. 8, at 3901 Delaware Ave., between Castor Avenue and Lewis Street from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

As an added incentive for those residents who have signed up with Philadelphia Recycling Rewards to earn points for recycling, Recyclebank is sponsoring a new Recycling Rewards Points opportunity for residents that drop off household hazardous waste at any of the Household Hazardous Waste events. Participants will receive a card with a code to get 25 points.

Checking product labels for these key words can identify household Hazardous Waste: toxic, flammable, corrosive and reactive. As a reminder, latex or water base paint is not hazardous and can be placed in the regular trash if the paint is dried up or solidified with an absorbent material, such as kitty litter.
