Fed up with Comcast

Well I’m pretty much fed up with Comcast. Since I have gotten this xfinity1 box, I have had nothing but problems. Almost every day, I have one problem or another. I wake up in the morning and I can’t get sound or I can’t get picture or maybe I can’t even change the channel. It’s always something.

Of course, they have no complaint department so you have to call their phone number. Good luck with that. I have spent numerous hours trying to talk with someone who will help me.

On Nov. 3, I was on the phone for more than three hours. I was told a supervisor would call me back in about 35 minutes. I am writing this letter on Nov. 5. I am still waiting for that call. This is true.

Believe it or not — from my last sentence to this one — it took me 18 minutes to reconnect. It’s nice to be back. Obviously my computer doesn’t work very quickly. I hear Comcast telling us they have the quickest Internet around. Eight minutes between sentences is not very good.

I know others that have the same problem. I am sitting here waiting for my TV to come back on. It has been 2 hours and 35 minutes now. I have been with these people since they began in the ’60s or ’70s. Despite the lousy service we get, they tried to raise my rate $40 this month. I am 75 years old on a fixed income and I need my TV.

I’m sorry to say I have to find something more reliable. It seems these people don’t care about us.

Playground needs help

I’m pleading with anyone, an elected official or not, to send the children’s sandpit in Burholme Park some much needed sand.

For years, I’ve taken my children to this playground only to see it become an eyesore. Besides the much-needed sand are the poorly maintained play structures. Go visit a playground in the poorer neighborhoods, you’ll see where all the revenue goes. I just saw a beautiful, new playground in Germantown.

Please send us some sand and while you’re at it some improved playground equipment.

Thanks, Bobby Henon

Over the past year, Councilman Henon’s office convened the Problem Properties Advisory Council. This group included the Tacony Civic Association, other civic groups, and non-profit partners in the 6th Councilmanic District.

Many properties were brought to the council that were blighted, vacant and tax delinquent. Working together with Councilman Henon’s office, we have addressed more than 50 properties, with many in the Tacony neighborhood.

The council used different tools including code enforcement, private sale, demolition, receivership, and sheriff sale.

We would like to personally thank Councilman Henon’s office, the Department of Licenses and Inspections, the Streets Department, and the District Attorney’s Public Nuisance Task Force, for working together to address the serious issue of problem properties.

Thank you Councilman Henon for your leadership in convening such a productive group.

No comprendo? Es ok

In order to vote in the United States, one must be an American citizen, right? In order to qualify for American citizenship, one must be able to read, write, and speak English, right?

In “Instructions to Voters” on the current Philadelphia Election Notice publication, it was stated:

If you are unable to read, write or speak English well and need assistance, ask the Polling Place Officials if an English/Spanish interpreter is available.

What happened? If one can read, write and speak English well enough to pass the citizenship test, why would anyone need an interpreter?

Up is down; black is white. Voter fraud is a figment of our imagination. No comprendo? Es ok.
