Man killed by Amtrak train in Frankford

A southbound Northeast Regional train hit and killed a man on Amtrak rails in Frankford late Sunday, according to Philadelphia police. The Hispanic man in his 30s, as yet unidentified, was near Worth and Kinsey streets at 11:42 p.m. Sunday and pronounced dead at the scene at 11:59 p.m., police said.

The train, heading from Boston to Washington, had 496 passengers, none of whom were injured, according to Amtrak spokesman Craig Schulz. The train was delayed about two and a half hours as the accident was investigated. Three other trains also were delayed, from several minutes to almost an hour, but service was back to normal before the morning rush, Schulz said. ••
