A stray bullet entered a Wissinoming home and grazed a 13-year-old boy in the stomach as a gunman opened fire on the house during a failed robbery attempt, Philadelphia police say.
Chief Inspector Scott Small told reporters that a 34-year-old man was sitting on a porch on Creston Street near Hawthorne Street shortly before 8 p.m. last Thursday when two unknown men approached him and demanded his valuables. The victim fled into the house. But as he shut the front door, one of the bandits fired at least three gunshots into the house.
One of the slugs struck the boy, who was in the living room, Small said. He was taken to St. Christopher’s Hospital and listed in stable condition. Police did not release detailed descriptions of the robbers. ••
