The same gunman robbed three Northeast Philadelphia cell phone stores earlier this month, police say.
Police have released surveillance video and photos from the heists, which all involved Metro PCS stores. On Dec. 11, the suspect entered the store at 915 Levick St. in Oxford Circle and told a clerk that he wished to pay a bill. Moments later, he pulled a black handgun from the front pocket of his hoodie and demanded money. The clerk surrendered an undisclosed amount of cash. The robber ran from the store in an unknown direction.
A similar robbery occurred on Dec. 12 at 6822 Bustleton Ave. in Castor Gardens, where the crook took cash and a clerk’s cell phone. On Dec. 17, the same robber struck again at 6645 Castor Ave. in Castor Gardens, where he stole cash from the register, but an employee refused to give up her phone.
Police described the robber as white, in his early 20s, 5 feet 5 inches tall and stocky with a reddish-brown beard, a black jacket, multi-colored hoodie, black and white sneakers, a glove on his right hand and a black skull cap.
