Dr. Seuss had only one Grinch that stole Christmas but Northeast Philadelphia has at least two of them, according to Philadelphia police.
Earlier this month, a man and his accomplice allegedly stole a package from a Bell’s Corner doorstep moments after a Federal Express driver had delivered it there. The theft occurred on Dec. 1 on the 1900 block of Tustin St.
Surveillance cameras recorded the crime. At about 2:30 p.m., a FedEx driver stopped in front of the house, exited his truck and placed a box at the door. In the meantime, a black two-door coupe with silver mag wheels drove slowly past the home. After the delivery truck left the area, the black car returned and parked in front of the same house. A man exited the passenger side of the car, approached the house, grabbed the package and returned to the car, which fled the scene.
Police did not disclose what the box contained. The car passenger was described as white, in his early 30s, 6 feet tall with brown hair, a dark blue jacket, blue jeans and dark shoes.
