Teach kids to obey the law
We’ve been seeing the protests and hearing about how African American parents are telling their children that they should be frightened and cautious because police are shooting unarmed black men. Maybe parents should be teaching their children these lessons instead:
If a police officer tells you to stop walking down the middle of the street, you comply without cussing them out.
Don’t try to take a police officer’s gun away from them; they will consider it a threat to their lives.
If a police officer says “stop,” stay where you are. You immediately stop and do not run toward the officer.
If a police officer says you’re under arrest, you do not resist. You can always pursue a complaint later if you feel you’ve been wrongly arrested.
Do not point a toy gun that looks like a real one at adult strangers out in public; especially if those adults are police officers.
If you are pulled over by police and they ask you to exit your vehicle, you comply and not try to reach for a gun in your center console.
Teach your children at a young age to obey the law and show respect for those in authority.
Had these lessons been adhered to, none of the deaths resulting from recent police encounters would have taken place.

Killing cops is dishonorable
Killing of innocent white police officers is dishonorable. The people that are being hurt also include black people who will die because less white police officers will not be available to protect them.
Most definitely, each white policeman that is shot is one less cop to save an innocent black person.
Think about all the innocents that would unnecessarily die due to senseless revenge.
Practice the Golden Rule and we’ll all live longer.

Re: no mercy for pension
Richard Iaconelli’s letter on Dec. 24 says he doesn’t know why he is being forced by the city to take a $17,000 a year healthcare plan in retirement. Did you vote, Richard?
The reason you’re forced to take Obamacare by the city is because Mayor Nutter and President Obama were voted into office twice. Enjoy!
