Corey Coston
Alert police in the 15th district captured a man suspected in six armed robberies of cell phone and dollar stores in the Castor Gardens, Wissinoming and Tacony neighborhoods last month.
On Dec. 19 at about 6 p.m., officers went to 6832 Torresdale Ave. after a report of a robbery at Michelle’s 99 Cents store. The initial description of the crook was a man wearing a gray hoodie. The description matched that of a robber who struck at Metro PCS, 5942 Torresdale Ave., one day earlier. In that crime, the crook fled in a silver Ford Explorer.
While en route to the newest crime scene, the officers spotted a silver Explorer with a light-skinned man behind the wheel. He was wearing a gray hoodie. The officers stopped the man on the 5500 block of Torresdale and identified him as Corey Coston, 30, of the 5600 block of Bloyd St.
Coston was later charged with the Dec. 18 and 19 hold-ups as well as four others at Metro PCS, 915 Levick St., on Dec. 11; Metro PCS, 6822 Bustleton Ave., on Dec. 12; Metro PCS, 6645 Castor Ave., on Dec. 17; and Castor Dollar Express, 7244 Castor Ave., on Dec. 18. ••
