Broad Street Media has purchased Philadelphia Weekly and the South Philly Review. The deal was finalized on Monday, Feb. 2; official announcements were made this morning.
“We have purchased this entity because it is a great fit for our organization,” said Broad Street Media publisher Perry Corsetti. “Personally, I think these are two great newspapers.”
The Center City and South Philadelphia newspapers will join Broad Street Media’s current publications, which include the Northeast Times, Star, the Midweek Wire, NJ Wire and Employment Weekly. The sale will boost circulation to more than 260,000 within city limits.
“This sale solidifies what we are trying to do in the City of Philadelphia,” said Corsetti.
Although under the same ownership group, Philadelphia Weekly and the South Philly Review will operate under R.P.M. Philly, LLC, while the Northeast Times, Star, the Midweek Wire, NJ Wire and Employment Weekly will continue operations under Broad Street Media.
Broad Street Media’s headquarters are located at 3412 Progress Drive in Bensalem, with an additional office in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Philadelphia Weekly, at 1617 JFK Blvd., and South Philly Review, at 12th and Porter streets, will continue operating out of their current offices. ••
