Reward offered in fatal hit and run

More than a month after a hit and run crash claimed a 33-year-old woman’s life on the 8100 block of State Road, authorities hope that new evidence and a $4,500 reward will help them solve the case.

Friends and family of Theresa Pozzi, of the 600 block of Kimball St. in South Philadelphia’s Bella Vista section, have collected $2,000 toward the reward, while AAA Mid-Atlantic chipped in $2,500.

The incident occurred on Dec. 23 at about 5:20 p.m. along the 8100 block of State Road. Pozzi crossed the northbound lanes on foot and was waiting for southbound traffic to clear when the northbound truck hit her before fleeing the scene. Pozzi died at a local hospital about an hour later.

Police have released grainy surveillance video of the suspect’s vehicle, which was described as an older model dark tow truck or pickup. The cab appears to have a curved shape similar to a truck from the 1960s or ’70s, police said. Investigators recovered a piece of headlamp trim that would indicate that the truck sustained front-end damage. Call the Citizens Crime Commission at 215–546-TIPS to report information. ••
