City Councilman David Oh visited the recent meeting of the Lawncrest Community Association, promoting a beef-and-beer fundraiser for the “Wild Bill” Guarnere Memorial Statue. The fundraiser will take place on Friday, Feb. 6, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Cannstatter’s, 9130 Academy Road.
Bill Guarere, who died last March, was a World War II hero from South Philadelphia. The event is being organized by Oh and the Guarnere family. Tickets cost $50 and include food, beer, soda, coffee, live music, raffles and auctions. The keynote address will be given by retired U.S. Army Col. Tim Williams.

In other news from the Jan. 20 meeting, the crowd listened to updates from Assistant District Attorney Jacqueline Coelho, chief of the DA’s Northeast Division; Sgt. Frank Barclay, of the 2nd Police District; and Dianne Murphy, community relations officer in the 2nd Police District.
