Surveillance photo
Philadelphia police have released surveillance video of an unidentified gunman who they believe has committed at least three robberies of fast food restaurants in the Lower Northeast in recent weeks.
The latest hold-up occurred on Jan. 20 at McDonald’s, 5498 Oxford Ave., in Oxford Circle. The bandit entered the business at about 7 p.m., approached a 20-year-old woman employee and handed her a note demanding cash. The robber also displayed a handgun, police said. But he fled empty handed when a patron unwittingly approached the sales counter and stood behind the robber.
The same crook was also responsible for similar robberies at Burger King, 5823 Castor Ave., in Oxford Circle on Jan. 4 and at Dunkin Donuts, 5901 Rising Sun Ave., in Lawndale on Dec. 14. In both of those cases, employees surrendered undisclosed amounts of cash.
Police described the robber as black, 40 years old and standing between 5 feet 8 inches and 6 feet tall. He has a dark complexion and possibly scars on his face. He was wearing a black jacket, black hat and eyeglasses.
