Former state rep dies

Former state Rep. Francis E. Gleeson Jr. died last week. He was 77.

Gleeson, a Democrat, served from 1969–78. Republican John Perzel defeated Gleeson in 1978 after losing a bid two years earlier.

Gleeson was a lawyer and former Democratic leader of the 55th Ward. He is survived by a son, Frank; a sister, Helen; a brother, Ronald; six nieces and nephews; and his former wife, Mary.

A viewing and Funeral Mass took place at St. Leo Catholic Church. Gleeson was buried at St. Dominic Cemetery. ••
