A Northeast native and well-known city zoning attorney is running to become a magistrate in Bucks County.
Shawn Ward announced his candidacy on Feb. 17 for the seat long held by District Justice Donald Nasshorn in Newtown. Nasshorn passed away in December. The magisterial district covers Newtown Borough and Township, along with Wrightstown and Upper Makefield townships.

Ward practices predominantly in the areas of zoning, land use, municipal code enforcement, real estate, DUI, landlord-tenant issues, small claims and traffic cases. He has been in practice for 25 years.
He is the co-founder of the Green Parrot Restaurant and Pub in Newtown and the longtime president of the Sycamore Street Business Association, of which he was a charter member.
He is a member of Newtown Township Zoning Hearing Board and a former chairman of the Newtown Township Planning Commission, on which he served 11 years.
