Torresdale’s Christine Hazel, a chef adviser at Chickie’s & Pete’s, is a contestant on the current season of Hell’s Kitchen.
The 32-year-old Bristol Township native is among 18 contestants this season, which kicked off on Tuesday night. The show can be seen each Tuesday at 8 p.m. on Fox.
Hell’s Kitchen features host Gordon Ramsay, a Scottish-born, English-raised restaurant owner. Ramsay is known for demanding culinary perfection. He has a short temper and is prone to the occasional expletive.
For Tuesday’s debut, Hazel was at the Chickie’s & Pete’s location at Parx Casino for a viewing party. The show started with the nine women on one team and the nine men on another team.
Hazel is an honors graduate of the Art Institute of Philadelphia, and worked her way through school as a bartender at Chickie’s & Pete’s. She has worked as a chef at the 2013 U.S. Open at Merion Golf Club and at last year’s Masters.
Today, she oversees menu development, upscale catering and development of a dessert line at Chickie’s & Pete’s.
On Hell’s Kitchen, Ramsay puts the aspiring chefs through grueling challenges. The winner will earn a head chef position.
The show debuted in 2005. This is its 14th season. Fox already has ordered seasons 15 and 16. ••
