Two masked men invaded an elderly couple’s Bustleton home early Friday morning, assaulting the bedridden man and attacking his wife with pepper spray and a knife, Philadelphia police say.
The robbers wore all black clothing and covered their faces during the raid, which occurred at about 5:50 a.m. on the 2000 block of Murray St. The victims were asleep when the bandits entered the single home by climbing through a rear kitchen window. The crooks pulled a blanket over the head of the 77-year-old husband, who was lying on a hospital bed on the first floor. The wife, 76, was in a second floor bedroom, where the crooks sprayed her in the face, held a knife to her throat and demanded money and jewelry.
The robbers fled with $500 cash. Paramedics treated the woman victim at the scene. ••
