Multiple Sclerosis fundraiser at FOP

A fundraiser will be held for the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation on Friday, April 3, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5, 11630 Caroline Road.

Tickets cost $30 and includes food, beer, wine and music.

Free trees available

The city Department of Parks and Recreation will be giving away more than 2,000 trees as part of its new TreePhilly initiative.

Residents are encouraged to register for up to two free trees in advance. Trees can be picked up from the Pennypack Environmental Center, 8600 Verree Road, on April 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Event to celebrate Lawncrest tradition

Crescentville United Methodist Church, 412 Sentner St., will host a Women’s Fellowship Tea on Sunday, April 19, at 2 p.m.

The group will commemorate the 100 years of Lawncrest’s 4th of July Celebration.

Tickets cost $10 in advance and $12 at the door.

Upcoming concert at Bull Shooters

The Rise of the Patriot Tour will come to Bull Shooters, 14000 Bustleton Ave. in Somerton, on Sunday, April 5.

The concert will start at 7 p.m. and feature metal bands Final Drive, Dead Horse Trauma and Skinbound. Doors open at 6 p.m.

Tickets cost $10-$14. Parking is free. The show is for anyone 18 and older.

Penny Party at St. Bart’s

St. Bartholomew Church, at Harbison and Cheltenham avenues in Wissinoming, will hold a Penny Party on Sunday, May 3, starting at noon.

There will be prizes, a 50–50 and food.

The cost is $3, which includes a piece of cake and a cup of coffee or tea.

O’Neill invites public to meeting

City Councilman Brian O’Neill (R-10th dist.) invites the public to attend a meeting of the Philadelphia Community Sustainability Initiative on Thursday, April 9, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at American Heritage Federal Credit Union, 2060 Red Lion Road.

The initiative is a framework to guide the work of city government to make every neighborhood a community of choice.

Healthy living events at WEL Pennypack

Nazareth Hospital and Wesley Enhanced Living Pennypack Park will offer an Adult Healthy Living series.

The monthly events are free and open to the public. They take place from 10 a.m. to noon at WEL Pennypack, 8401 Roosevelt Blvd.

The dates and topics are April 21 (physical health and wellness); May 19 (arthritis and osteoporosis); June 13 (health and wellness fair, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.); July 21 (brings medications for consultation); Aug. 18 (stress, dementia and depression); Sept. 15 (cancer awareness and prevention); Oct. 20 (infection prevention, flu vaccines); and Nov. 17 (living with diabetes, advance healthcare planning).

Frankford High group looking for young alums

The new Frankford High School Young Alumni Council is looking for alumni under the age of 40 to join its board.

The mission of the Young Alumni Council is to foster beneficial connections among alumni, students, faculty, administration and staff. To implement this mission, the Young Alumni Council works with the Frankford High School Alumni Association.

Weekend passes available at Firefly

Four-day weekend passes are available for the fourth annual Firefly Music Festival, set for June 18–21 at The Woodlands of Dover International Speedway in Delaware. The cost is $299.

The headliners will be Paul McCartney, the Kings of Leon and The Killers.

The lineup will also include Morrissey, Snoop Dog, Foster the People, Bastille, Modest Mouse, Zedd, Hozier, Empire of the Sun and Kid Cudi.

In all, there will be more than 100 acts performing on seven stages.

Holmesburg Library has preschool story time

Holmesburg Library, 7810 Frankford Ave., will hold preschool story time at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays, April 7 and April 21.

Farrell Elementary to sponsor designer bag bingo event

Louis H. Farrell Elementary School will sponsor designer bag bingo on April 16 at Cottage Green, 9001 Ashton Road.

Doors open at 6 p.m., and bingo starts at 6:30. Tickets cost $40 and include dinner and bingo. There will be a cash bar.

College scholarships available for students in Tacony

The Joseph C. McCloskey Charitable Fund will be providing four college scholarships for students who live in Tacony.

Two women will receive money from the Elizabeth McCloskey Memorial Scholarship, while two men will receive money from the John C. Sullivan Jr. Scholarship.

The deadline to apply is April 15.
