Benefit to be held in memory of fallen soldier

John Kihm

A fundraising Night at the Races will take place on Saturday, April 18, at Presentation BVM for the Semper Fi Fund, in memory of John Kihm.

The church is located at 100 Old Soldiers Road in Cheltenham. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The races will start at 7:30. Tickets cost $35, and include a buffet and beer.

Kihm was a 2005 graduate of Presentation and a 2009 graduate of Cardinal Dougherty High School. He lived on the 900 block of Tyson Ave.

In early 2010, he joined the U.S. Army. He was serving in Afghanistan when he was killed on April 19, 2011. He was just 19. Family, friends and the Presentation community will be holding their fourth annual fundraiser.

The Semper Fi Fund provides immediate financial assistance and lifetime support to post-9/11 wounded, critically ill and injured members of all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families, ensuring that they have the resources they need during their recovery and transition back to their communities.
