Maybe there weren’t any rocks nearby, so a burglar made due with what he had. He used his pickup truck to smash a glass door and steal cigarettes from a Philadelphia Mills-area gas station on Jan. 31.
Philadelphia police released surveillance video of the crime on April 15. The video shows a pickup truck arriving outside Lukoil at 1455 Franklin Mills Circle at about 5:12 a.m. Before exiting the vehicle, the driver shifted into reverse and used the rear bumper of the truck to shatter the transparent entryway.
The motorist then hopped from the cab of the truck, raced behind the sales counter and stuffed dozens of cigarette packs from a display case into a duffel bag before returning to the truck and fleeing. The entire episode lasted less than two minutes.
Police described the burglar only as a man wearing a dark mask or scarf over his face, as well as a gray hoodie, blue jacket and dark pants. His truck was more distinguishable. It’s an older model Ford, tan or bronze in color, with an extended cab and a round sticker on the rear driver’s side window. The rear passenger reverse light was not working.
