The Northeast Times reported incorrect information about the Tacony Academy Charter School in the paper’s coverage of the Wissinoming Civic Association meeting appearing in its May 6 editions.
Starting next school year, Tacony Academy will open a new high school at 6201 Keystone St. in Wissinoming. The high school will occupy a newly constructed building on the site of a former billiards hall. The high school’s catchment area will include the 19135, 19111, 19120, 19124 and 19149 ZIP codes.
Tacony Academy Charter School is in its sixth year and serves 689 students in kindergarten through 12th grade at two sites in the Northeast. Tacony Academy operates a high school for about 380 students in a leased property on the site of the former St. William Parish School, 6238 Rising Sun Ave. Tacony Academy also operates a grade school (K to 8) at 1330 Rhawn St. (at Dungan Road), a property that Tacony Academy owns.
