Police trying to ID Castor Gardens robber

Surveillance photo

An armed robber probably thought he had the cashier of Summerdale Mini-Market cornered when he pointed his handgun through a gap in the victim’s protective booth. Instead, the worker ran from his cubicle, leaving the masked crook to flee empty-handed.

The crime played out on May 1 on the 1200 block of Greeby St. in Castor Gardens. The unknown bandit entered the store, pointed his gun at the cashier and demanded money. But the clerk had other ideas. No injuries were reported in the episode, which was recorded by a surveillance camera.

Police hope that someone will recognize the robber and give police his name. He was described as black, in his late 20s, wearing a gray hoodie, blue jeans, white and black sneakers and a white mask covering his face.
