Preschool registration at Dorsey Playground

Dorsey Playground, 6501 Hegerman St. in Tacony, will hold preschool registration on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 7 p.m. The registration fee is $10. The cost is $70 per month. The school is open to children ages 3–5. The class will meet on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon.

Free movies shown at the old Devon

Kingdom Life Christian Center at the Devon, a church at 6325 Frankford Ave. that once housed the Devon Theater, will show free movies on Friday nights at 6:30 through Aug. 21. The lineup is as follows: Home (Aug. 14) and The Goonies (Aug. 21).

The movies are being shown in partnership with City Councilman Bobby Henon. Children under 10 must be accompanied by an adult. ••

Planning meeting scheduled for Aug. 13

Philadelphia 2035 will hold a meeting on Thursday, Aug. 13, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Holmesburg Recreation Center, 4500 Rhawn St. (at Ditman Street).

Murt hosting two Summer Fun Night events

State Rep. Tom Murt (R-152nd dist.) will host his annual Summer Fun Night on two upcoming evenings. There will be games, a moon bounce, refreshments and information on local and state services to help families with health, education and safety issues.

The first event will be held on Thursday, Aug. 13, 6–8 p.m., at Fern Village Park, 614 High Ave. in Hatboro.

The second will be held on Thursday, Aug. 20, 6–8 p.m., at Henry Lee Willet Park, Twining Road and Dale Avenue in Willow Grove.

ldquo;I want to encourage everyone to come out,” Murt said. “Families will have a great time together. They will also have the opportunity to meet with me and learn more about the issues impacting their lives.”

Community Day is Aug. 15

State Rep. Jason Dawkins will sponsor Frankford Community Day and Gospel Concert Series on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Gambrel Playground, 1900 Wakeling St.

The day will include a book bag and school supply giveaway, basketball tournament, exhibition youth football game, carnival games, live music and more. Representatives from city, state and federal agencies and nonprofit organizations will be in attendance. Call 215–744–7901. ••
