Police arrest suspect for string of dollar store robberies

The Northeast Dollar Store robber got more than he bargained for on Aug. 17.

During a heist at a Family Dollar store at 4501 Castor Ave., an armed male approached a cashier and demanded money from the register. A store employee recognized the suspect from a prior incident and contacted police. Responding 15th District officers arrested Donald Thomas as he was fleeing to his car.

After further investigation, police said Thomas, of the 1100 block of Harrison Street in Northwood, is a suspect in eight other robberies, all of which targeted various dollar stores throughout Northeast Philadelphia. He has been charged with multiple robberies and related offenses. ••
