The fourth annual Liberty Music Fest will feature 60 bands over four days this week at Bull Shooters Saloon, 14000 Bustleton Ave. in Somerton.
The action gets underway on Thursday at 7 p.m. Friday’s performances also start at 7. The music begins at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
It’s all original music, and industry talent scouts will be checking out the scene.
“They’re the best emerging artists in the area,” said promoter Jim Thorpe, of DVT Entertainment. “It’s all styles. We’ve grabbed the best bands in the region, ones that are doing a lot of touring.”
DVT Entertainment brings bands to Bull Shooters every Friday and Saturday. The place is booked through November.
Regular shows began with a special Wednesday performance by Breaking Benjamin in March.
“It’s been going real good,” Thorpe said.
Bull Shooters is a good venue, in Thorpe’s view.
“There’s free parking, a large stage and a great sound system,” he said.
Patrons generally come from the Northeast and Bucks and Montgomery counties.
“They don’t want to go downtown, pay 20 bucks to park and pay high drink prices,” Thorpe said.
The cost for the festival is $10 per day, or $20 for a four-day pass, available at the door.
Miller and Pabst Blue Ribbon are sponsors, and there will be beer specials throughout the festival.
The first two festivals took place at The Legendary Dobbs on South Street. Last year’s festival was at Finnigan’s Wake, which is closed.
At Bull Shooters, there will be three stages. The Saturday and Sunday shows will feature an outdoor stage from 2 p.m. to close.
On Saturday and Sunday, all ages are welcome to attend until 9 p.m.
Thorpe said most of the festival-goers are in their 20s and 30s, though the age range goes up to 60.
“It’s a good, fun event,” he said. “It’s a music-lover crowd. It’s very diverse in age, which makes it fun.”
