Keep jobs in the U.S.

Labor Day commemorates those workers who built the first car, the first train, the first road.

Certainly, there is the realization that the job market has changed. At one time, Philadelphia was the main industrialized city in the United States. No more.

Most products that were made here are now made in China, and other countries throughout the world. It is, without a doubt, that the rich have became richer, and the poor have become poorer.

This must change. It is urgent to create jobs and stop the drain of companies moving overseas. Pay a decent wage. There is no doubt this would create a better future, and a greater society.

Philly needs a change

For over 62 years, Philadelphia has been run by the Democrat Party. We are the third-poorest city in America, have a dropout rate of over 33 percent, the incumbent Democrat officials put themselves on DROP and retire a day to ransack the city’s coffers. Nepotism is the rule of the day.

Remember Mayor Street trying to hire both his wife and brother as “consultants” to the city for huge salaries and his brother to “maintain” the luggage carousel at the airport even though he had no company that does that type of work for $1.1 million?

Maybe you recall Mayor Nutter closing fire stations and curbing police services. How about when Mayor Nutter closed seven fire stations and 11 libraries in 2009 instead of channeling funds from less important areas of government? Was that keeping the people of Philly safe? Only time will tell if the cutbacks will negatively affect the public. Less fires, so do away with fire stations hoping one doesn’t break out is not the way to think.

The time has come to stop voting for someone because of your party choice since they have failed us over six decades. It is time to throw them out on their incumbent butts and get fresh ideas and new blood into our city’s government that are more concerned with the city than their friends, supporters and pocketbooks.

Come November, get out and vote. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. The city you may save is our own.

A look at illegal immigrants and crime

I, along with many others, applaud Melissa Murray Bailey for having the courage to state her opposition to Philadelphia being a sanctuary city. Finally, we have a candidate who is interested in protecting people instead of the worthless feel-good ideology that for over 50 years has not only been proven to be ineffective, but has led to the steady decline of Philadelphia.

Again, what is it about the word illegal that some people don’t seem to comprehend? They can try to sugar-coat it anyway they want by substituting words such as undocumented for illegal but the fact is the mere presence of illegal immigrants in our country is a crime.

The illegal immigrant who shot Kate Steinle in San Francisco had a criminal past and had been deported multiple times. Yet because of the lack of enforcement of immigration laws, this piece of grime was able to get back into America six times. On his last visit, he flat-out stated that he sought out a sanctuary city because he knew he would be protected from Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

It has not just been a matter of a few incidents which an illegal immigrant has committed a crime. There have been thousands of incidents in which illegal immigrants have committed crimes involving drugs, burglaries, rape, assault, as well as being responsible for fatal car crashes and yes, murder. The simpletons who oppose Ms. Bailey even subtly suggested racism for those who support upholding the law.

With over 50 years of the same worthless policies in this city that seek to protect criminals, vilify our police and reward irresponsibility by providing free meals during the summer because parents are too lazy to pour their kids a bowl of cereal, we are seeking to leave the city. In good conscience, I won’t have my tax dollars supporting this garbage. As a professional, I can easily obtain a license to practice in another state.

And unless someone like Melissa Murray Bailey — who actually cares more about protecting good, hard-working citizens rather than criminals and ineffective feel-good ideology — becomes mayor, I will be seeking to take care of sick people somewhere else.
