A two-vehicle crash on Woodhaven Road early Sunday left one man dead, his woman passenger hospitalized and another motorist facing criminal charges, according to published reports.
The Philadelphia Police Department has provided only preliminary information about the 12:30 a.m. wreck. The victims and another involved motorist have not been identified by name.
It happened in the eastbound lanes of the expressway near Thornton Road when a trailing car struck the right rear quarter panel of a four-door sedan, causing the sedan to strike a median barrier and flip. The sedan’s driver, 53, and his woman passenger were taken to Aria Health’s Torresdale hospital. The driver died about a half-hour later. The woman was listed in critical condition then upgraded to stable.
The other driver, 26, was not injured. Police have not announced criminal charges. ••
