Papal Visit Preview: National Liberty Museum announces special exhibit

The National Liberty Museum, 321 Chestnut St., will celebrate the World Meeting of Families with a papal visit exhibit, tours and extended museum hours.

The special exhibit is entitled Building Bridges of Faith: Photographs of Papal Visits to the Holy Land, 1963–2015.

The Consulate General of Israel to the Mid-Atlantic Region has provided the museum with a collection of images showcasing six decades of friendship between Israel and the Catholic Church.

The exhibit features photographs of Blessed Pope Paul VI, Pope Saint John Paul II, Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI and Pope Francis. It also includes 12 stained-glass scenes depicting heroes of the Bible, a glass chess set with Christian and Jewish figures engaged in dialogue and other works of art. The museum will also feature 60-minute tours followed by a buffet meal of Philadelphia foods, including hoagies, soft pretzels, Tastykakes, Peanut Chews and Hank’s Premium Root Beer.
