Coralie Compere was named to the dean’s list at Clarion University. To be included on the semester dean’s list, students must be enrolled for a minimum of 12 graded credits and achieve a semester GPA of at least a 3.50.

Albright College held its 156th commencement ceremony, and the following local students received diplomas: Christine Gerhart graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in English/music business.; Jermaine Grey graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in history.

James J. Gillespie was among the 59 members of The University of Scranton’s undergraduate class of 2015 honored for academic excellence, service or both at Class Night. Gillespie received the Excellence in Philosophy Award. Gillespie graduated with a major in philosophy and a double minor in physics and mathematics. He was the president of Phi Sigma Tau, the international philosophy honor society. Gillespie was also a member of the Philosophy Society. He will pursue a master’s degree in philosophy at the University of Florida. Gillespie graduated from Roman Catholic High School.

Gina Staller was among The University of Scranton graduate students recognized for academic excellence at commencement. The Jesuit university conferred 37 doctor of physical therapy degrees and 642 master’s degrees and honored 33 graduate students for outstanding academic achievement in their academic area.

Gabrielle Nirenberchik is one of 47 students recently inducted into the Susquehanna University chapter of Alpha Phi Omega, a co-educational service fraternity. APO devotes its time to volunteering for many different service projects throughout the year such as the Ronald McDonald House dinner, Relay for Life and the Red Cross Blood Drive. Members of the organization complete a minimum of 50 hours of service each year. Nirenberchik is a psychology and neuroscience major in the Class of 2018. A 2014 graduate of Northeast, she is the daughter of Roman and Rita Nirenberchik.

Teresa Mauro, a freshman biology major, was named to the Albright College dean’s list. Albright students had to attain at least a 3.75 term grade point average to be named to the list.

Christopher Felix has been named to the dean’s list at Lafayette College for outstanding academic achievement. To qualify for dean’s list, a student must achieve at least a 3.60 semester grade point average on a scale of 4.0. Felix is a graduate of Northeast High School.

Khalfalla Gadalla has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in human services from Springfield College in Massachusetts for studies completed in 2015.

Kathryn Krzaczek, a member of the class of 2015, was named to the dean’s list at Loyola University Maryland. In order to qualify for the dean’s list at Loyola, a student must achieve a minimum GPA of at least 3.500 for the term, totaling a minimum of 15 credits.

Jessica Dembeck, a recent graduate of Widener University, was named to the president’s list. The president’s list recognizes full-time students who earned a grade point average of 4.00 in two consecutive semesters without receiving an “incomplete” or “pass” grade. ••
