Tacony Civic to sponsor seasonal concert
The final seasonal concert sponsored by the Tacony Civic Association will take place on Thursday, Sept. 24, at 6:30 p.m. at Disston Recreation Center, 4510 Disston St.
The headline act will be Sandbox Music recording artist Giana Lynn, who will perform new material and songs from her 2014 release, Gianre. Opening for Giana Lynn will be the Civic Minded Fools.
Refreshments and restrooms will be available. Guests are encouraged to bring a lawn chair. ••
Veterans benefits session is Sept. 29

Bob Pantano hosting charity dance party
Vision for Equality will sponsor a Bob Pantano Dance Party on Friday, Oct. 2, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Cannstatter Volksfest Verein, 9130 Academy Road. Pantano will play music from the 1960s, ’70s and ‘80s.
The night will include roast beef, salads, beer, soda, raffle baskets and silent auction items.
Tickets cost $35 or $300 for a table of 10.
Proceeds will benefit Vision for Equality, a nonprofit whose mission is to support people with intellectual disabilities and autism and their families.

Library celebrates 10th anniversary
The public is invited to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Friends of Holmesburg Library.
The celebration will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 7, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Holmesburg Library, 7810 Frankford Ave. (at Hartel Avenue).
The volunteer group has spent the last decade raising funds to sponsor community programs, promoting the library, advocating for city funding and saving the library from closure in 2008.
The evening will include cake and treats. ••
Shredder event at Frankford and Cottman
State Rep. John Taylor (R-177th dist.) will sponsor a shredder event on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Frankford and Cottman avenues.
The event is designed to prevent identity theft. There’s a limit of four paper boxes per person. No business documents will be accepted. There’s no need to remove staples, paper clips, fasteners or rubber bands.

Pastabilities for Pets to be held Oct. 2
The third annual Pastabilities for Pets will take place on Friday, Oct. 2, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Georgine’s, 1320 Newport Road in Bristol.
Proceeds will benefit Northeast Animal Rescue.
The cost is $30, and includes dinner, dessert and beverages. A cash bar is available. There will also be a gift basket raffle, silent auction and door prizes.

Meet the new GNPCC president
The Greater Northeast Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce will hold a “Meet the New President” breakfast on Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 8:30 a.m. at the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5 hall, 11630 Caroline Road.
Registration and pre-program networking will begin at 7:30 a.m.
Pam Henshall, who was named to the top spot in April, plans to unveil a re-branding of the 93-year-old organization, including a new logo and new colors; a revitalized events schedule that will include seminars, panel discussions and luncheons in addition to breakfast and after-hours events; and a new, interactive website that will go live in November.
