NE woman questioned in fatal hit and run

A Northeast Philadelphia woman may have been involved in a fatal hit and run that occurred on State Road just outside the city on Oct. 28.

Bensalem Township police say that a passing motorist spotted the body of Andrew Miller, 29, lying alongside State Road, just south of Mill Road, at about 8:05 a.m. Miller was dead and had been struck by a vehicle while walking along the shoulder of the northbound lane. Police said that accident had occurred during the previous night and that Miller had been walking from Torresdale Train Station to his home in a nearby apartment complex.

Police released information about the case to the news media soon after the discovery. A short time later, a person contacted them and claimed to have been the driver who struck Miller. Fox 29 reported that the driver was a woman from the Northeast.

Bensalem police questioned the driver at the township’s police station, then dismissed her without pressing charges. Her name was not released. Police gave no explanation as to why the driver was not charged with leaving the scene of the accident. ••
