Ever wonder how to rack up 19 prior arrests and two active arrest warrants? Do stuff like Anthony Brown allegedly did last Thursday night in Frankford.
According to police, Brown was driving a stolen car and, when stopped by 15th district officers, attempted to flee. In doing so, he allegedly dragged one cop down the street, led a lengthy pursuit and crashed into another motorist. Even then, Brown wasn’t finished, police say. That’s when he allegedly ran on foot and fought arresting officers, prompting one to use a Taser to subdue him.
The drama unfolded at about 8:38 p.m., starting on the 1900 block of Haworth St. That’s where patrol officers initially stopped Brown in a 2012 Audi that had been reported stolen. When one of the officers opened the passenger door, Brown allegedly floored it. That cop later complained of shoulder, neck, back, leg and groin pain and was treated at Jeanes Hospital.
After the vehicle chase, Brown allegedly crashed into a Honda Pilot at Ditman and Pratt streets. The other motorist refused treatment at the scene, police said.
Officers finally grabbed Brown on the 1800 block of Pratt, where they subdued him with a Taser and cuffed him. Brown, 34, of the 3300 block of Haggert St., was charged with aggravated assault and numerous related offenses. ••
