Pedestrian killed crossing Boulevard

A man was struck by a car and killed while crossing Roosevelt Boulevard in Castor Gardens on Monday morning.

The accident occurred shortly after 5:30 a.m., according to police. The victim, 48, was walking across the southbound inner lanes at Harbison Avenue when a Volvo SUV or crossover vehicle struck him, police said. The motorist remained at the scene and reportedly cooperated with attending authorities. The victim, whose identity was not disclosed, died at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

A witness told police that the victim was crossing against a red light at the intersection. No criminal charges are expected. During the investigation, all southbound lanes were closed during morning rush hour. ••
