Frankford murder possibly drug-related

Illicit drugs may have played a role in a home invasion-style murder in Frankford last Saturday night, according to a police source.

Investigators found drug paraphernalia and bundled cash inside an apartment on the 4600 block of Penn St. where an intruder shot a resident man, 41, fatally at about 10 p.m., the source said. The invader reportedly kicked in the front door, shot the victim, went outside and fought a witness on the porch. He dropped a gun and cell phone in the scuffle.

Police took the victim to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead less than an hour later. No arrests have been made. Homicide detectives are investigating. ••
