Robotics program showcased at Holmesburg Civic meeting

Students from New Foundations Charter High School showcased their robotics program at last week’s Holmesburg Civic Association meeting.

The students were joined by their teacher, Brandon Petcaugh, and school CEO Paul Stadelberger.

In all, there are about 45 members of the robotics program in the middle school and high school. The program should continue to thrive, because there are only a handful of seniors.

At the Feb. 9 meeting, the students presented a slideshow and a demonstration of their robot, which has been constructed to shoot balls into a net.

The robotics team will compete in a state tournament in Haverford on March 12.

The students hope to advance to a national championship competition on April 7 in Council Bluffs, Iowa and the world championships on April 20 in Kentucky.

In addition, the program is designed to help participants prepare to study engineering in college.

For more information on the program, visit nfcsrobotics.com or follow NFCS Robotics on Twitter or Instagram.

The Holmesburg Civic Association will meet again on Tuesday, March 8, at 7:15 p.m. at Holmesburg Recreation Center, at Ditman and Rhawn streets. ••
